Thrivent Choice Dollars
Eligible Thrivent Financial for Lutherans benefit members can help Thrivent Financial choose where it distributes a portion of its charitable funds through “Choice Dollars,” part of the organization’s Thrivent Choice charitable grant program. Potential amounts range from $25 to $500 for each eligible benefit member. Choice Dollars can be directed to Martin Luther Chapel or thousands of other Lutheran churches and organizations nationwide by visiting the Thrivent Choice website or by calling 800-THRIVENT (800-847-4836) and saying, “Thrivent Choice.”
Other Choices for Giving
Cash Gift – You can make a gift via check made payable to Martin Luther Chapel and mailing to: 444 Abbot Rd., East Lansing, MI 48823 .
Qualified Charitable Distribution – If you are 70 1/2 or older, you can give a direct gift from your IRA to Martin Luther Chapel, and this direct transfer can qualify as your RMD in full or in part, thus reducing your taxable income.
Gifts of Securities – A gift of stocks, bonds, real estate, or other assets may be sent to Martin Luther Chapel. An outright gift of appreciated stock eliminates any capital gains tax and allows you to claim an income-tax deduction based on the full market value of long-term securities, regardless of their original cost.
Bequest by Will – You can designate a gift to Martin Luther Chapel in your will and, in some cases, receive a substantial reduction in federal gift and estate taxes. After your death, remaining assets transfer to Martin Luther Chapel. You receive income tax benefits the year you establish your trust. Charitable Lead Trust – You can place cash or property into a trust that pays a fixed amount to Martin Luther Chapel for the number of years you select. Once this period ends, the assets held by the trust are transferred to the beneficiaries you name. In some cases, you receive a substantial reduction in federal gift and estate taxes.
