Rev. Curt Dwyer

Pastor

Pastor Curt joined the staff at Martin Luther Chapel in June, 2013. Prior to serving God's people in East Lansing, he served as the Assistant Pastor at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning, Iowa, from June, 1996 until September, 2000 and as the Pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church in Lafe, Arkansas from October 2000 until June 2013. Pastor Curt received a BA in Psychology from Truman State University in Kirksville, MO in 1992, and the Master of Divinity degree from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis in 1996. On March 1, 2015, Pastor Curt was installed as Lead Pastor at Martin Luther Chapel.

Pastor Curt is married to Renee, who happens to be the only girl that gave him a hug the first time he attended a Bible study at the Lutheran Student House on the campus of Truman State (It was part of the devotion that night. Honest). They have three children; Alex, Ian and Hope.

 

Rev. Dr. David Dressel

Associate Pastor

Pastor Dave has a heart and love for ministry, enjoys university communities, plays handball and loves to fish.  He has been a pastor of congregations in Lincoln, Nebraska (next to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln), Grand Forks, North Dakota (next to the University of North Dakota), and now in East Lansing, Michigan (next to Michigan State University).  On Sunday, March 1, 2015, Pastor Dave was installed as full time Associate Pastor at Martin Luther Chapel.

Dian Silvey

Ministry Assistant

Dian is from Lansing, MI where she raised and loved 4 children into "adulthood." Before working at Michigan State University for 5 years, Dian did Licensed Childcare and after graduating from Michigan State University with a degree in Pre-Law in 1992; she has worked at Martin Luther Chapel as Ministry Assistant. While working, several classes toward a Masters in Family Life Ministry and a certification as a Stephen Ministry Leader have been added. Her family now includes 3 more children (by marriage) and 4 grandchildren to love.

 

Anne Owens

Office Administrator

Office Administrator Anne Owens is responsible for day to day office operations, accounting processes, and a host of other things that enable us to function.  Anne is a native Detroiter who has spent the past four years in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and is happy to be back in the Mitten State. Anne and her husband Mitchell have two small children: Matthew, age 2, and Christopher, age 5 months. When she isn't busily attending to office duties or chasing after her children, Anne enjoys playing her harp, reading, and baking. She is thrilled to be a part of the ministry at Martin Luther Chapel.

Judah Pemble

Office Assistant

Judah Pemble is an Engineering and Mathematics major at Lansing Community College. After completing his associates degrees, he hopes to transfer to a university, where he will pursue a bachelor's in Engineering. As Office Assistant, Judah works to prepare service materials for every Sunday. When he's not at church or school, Judah enjoys playing with his cats and watching cartoons. 

Addie and Michael VanBemmelen

Chapel Managers

As Chapel managers, Addie and Michael oversee care and maintenance for the facilities and grounds. They are Muskegon natives, but for the time being they have found East Lansing to be their home. Michael is finishing his studies in Mechanical Engineering at MSU, while Addie attends Lansing Community College. During their free time, they enjoy going on bike rides, hiking, fishing, and taking occasional road trips.

Yatidi Lightfoot

Music Director

Yatidi Lightfoot loves playing organ and bringing musicians together for Sunday morning worship at Martin Luther Chapel.  She holds degrees in vocal performance and music education from Drake University.  Her favorite pastimes include puppetry, cooking, reading, and practicing yoga.  She also really enjoys dancing, especially with her husband, Peter, who teaches at MSU. 

'The trumpeters and musicians joined in unison to give praise and thanks to the Lord.  Accompanied by trumpets, cymbals and other instruments, the singers raised their voices in praise to the Lord and sang: "The Lord is good; God's love endures forever."' (2 Chronicles 5: 13)

Mary Grace

Sunday Evening Accompanist

Mary Grace, a talented pianist, leads our evening service music.   If you're interested in participating in the evening Praise team, which performs pre-worship service music before the 7:00 pm service each week, email Mary.  We welcome vocalists and instrumentalists. 

Elizabeth Clarke

Wednesday ON FIRE Lead Instrumentalist

Elizabeth Clarke was born and raised in Fort McMurray, Alberta, Canada.  She holds degrees in piano performance from the University of Alberta, Augustana Campus and the University of Victoria, and is now a doctoral student in piano at MSU.  In addition to playing and teaching piano, she enjoys vegetable gardening, visiting coffee shops, and learning about the world by looking at maps.
