Rev. Curt Dwyer

Pastor

Pastor Curt joined the staff at Martin Luther Chapel in June, 2013. Prior to serving God's people in East Lansing, he served as the Assistant Pastor at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning, Iowa, from June, 1996 until September, 2000 and as the Pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church in Lafe, Arkansas from October 2000 until June 2013. Pastor Curt received a BA in Psychology from Truman State University in Kirksville, MO in 1992, and the Master of Divinity degree from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis in 1996. On March 1, 2015, Pastor Curt was installed as Lead Pastor at Martin Luther Chapel.

Pastor Curt is married to Renee, who happens to be the only girl that gave him a hug the first time he attended a Bible study at the Lutheran Student House on the campus of Truman State (It was part of the devotion that night. Honest). They have three children; Alex, Ian and Hope.

 

Rev. James Robinson

Associate Pastor

James Robinson served in the military for about seventeen years. After his commissioning as an officer, he knew that he was in the wrong occupation but did not see a way to change. One day God closed one door and opened another door so that he was able to attend the Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne. He is married to Akila M. Robinson and has two wonderful children, James B. Robinson, Jr. (age 13) and Jude T. Robinson (age 10).  He was ordained at Martin Luther Chapel on June 9, 2019.

 

From Pastor James: “I feel blessed to have received a call from Martin Luther Chapel. I am excited to come worship with you and preach God's living Word to his beloved children. There is much that we will experience together in the coming years. May God's work be done through His church and through our work together!”

Rev. Dr. David Dressel

Associate Pastor

Pastor Dave has a heart and love for ministry, enjoys university communities, plays handball and loves to fish.  He has been a pastor of congregations in Lincoln, Nebraska (next to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln), Grand Forks, North Dakota (next to the University of North Dakota), and now in East Lansing, Michigan (next to Michigan State University).  On Sunday, March 1, 2015, Pastor Dave was installed as full time Associate Pastor at Martin Luther Chapel.

Dian Silvey

Ministry Assistant

Dian is from Lansing, MI where she raised and loved 4 children into "adulthood." Before working at Michigan State University for 5 years, Dian did Licensed Childcare and after graduating from Michigan State University with a degree in Pre-Law in 1992; she has worked at Martin Luther Chapel as Ministry Assistant. While working, several classes toward a Masters in Family Life Ministry and a certification as a Stephen Ministry Leader have been added. Her family now includes 3 more children (by marriage) and 5 grandchildren to love.

 

Delicia Lockhart

Office Administrator

Office Administrator Delicia Lockhart is responsible for day to day office operations, accounting processes, and a host of other things that enable us to function. She is married to Sean, who has been employed with the State of Michigan for 25 years. She is the proud mother of two children, Alexis and Anthony, as well as an adorable grand-daughter, Carleigh Chanel. Delicia loves family time and enjoys baking. She is thrilled to be a part of the ministry at Martin Luther Chapel.

Ben Scheffler

Chapel Manager

Ben is a young entrepreneur who has been coming to MLC since he was born. Orginally from St. Johns, Ben moved to the Lansing area right out of high school. You will find him around town playing PokemonGo or driving for GrubHub. In the past, Ben played guitar in the Wednesday ON FIRE band for five years and has been on four servant event trips. This summer he spent his time serving the US/MX border area while becoming an Ysleta Lutheran Mission Ambassador. 

Yatidi Lightfoot

Music Director

Yatidi Lightfoot loves playing organ and bringing musicians together for Sunday morning worship at Martin Luther Chapel.  She holds degrees in vocal performance and music education from Drake University.  Her favorite pastimes include puppetry, cooking, reading, and practicing yoga.  She also really enjoys dancing, especially with her husband, Peter, who teaches at MSU. 

'The trumpeters and musicians joined in unison to give praise and thanks to the Lord.  Accompanied by trumpets, cymbals and other instruments, the singers raised their voices in praise to the Lord and sang: "The Lord is good; God's love endures forever."' (2 Chronicles 5: 13)

Mary Grace

Sunday Evening Accompanist

Mary Grace, a talented pianist, leads our evening service music.   If you're interested in participating in the evening Praise team, which performs pre-worship service music before the 7:00 pm service each week, email Mary.  We welcome vocalists and instrumentalists. 

Mary Gossell

Wednesday ON FIRE Lead Instrumentalist

Mary Gossell grew up near Kansas City, Missouri and enjoyed playing music from a young age.  After finishing her Bachelor’s degree in piano performance, she moved to East Lansing to pursue Master’s degrees in both piano performance and music theory, graduating in 2018.  Currently, Mary is an intern for an international student ministry, teaches piano lessons at the Diaz School of Piano, enjoys performing and composing, and loves to collaborate with other musicians.  She has served on the worship teams of several churches and campus ministries, and she hopes to continue using her passion for music to glorify God through being a part of the ON FIRE team.
 

Sophia Coke

Office Assistant

Sophia Coke is a junior at MSU from Pinckney, Michigan who studies French, Spanish, and education. As office assistant, she works with the pastors on making the order of worship bulletins, Chapel Chatter, mailings, and updating the website. In her previous years at MLC she has been a Peer Minister, gone to Wednesday ON FIRE and the college student bible study, as well as three servant event trips to El Paso. Over the summer she spent her time serving the US/MX border area and becoming an Ysleta Lutheran Mission Ambassador. Her favorite thing to do is stay home with her two kittens Peanut and Jelly.
