Andy Barrus

Andy Barrus
President

Andy Barrus came to Martin Luther Chapel as an MSU student in the fall of 2007. He graduated with a degree in Mathematics and became a high school math teacher. Andy left the Lansing area and taught for four years in the southwest part of the state. He moved back to the area in 2016 when he started his current job of teaching math at Laingsburg High School. Andy enjoys running, biking, frisbee, cooking, and MSU sports.

Laura Hohnstadt

Laura is a fourth year mechanical engineering student at MSU, and has attended Martin Luther Chapel the past three years. She has been a part of two servant event trips, and is a Stephen Minister and a graduated peer minister. She enjoys painting, crocheting, reading, and playing sports and board games. She is excited to serve as vice president this year!

Timothy Mowers

Secretary

Timothy Mowers is a senior history major at M. S. U., and an assistant manager at the Haslett Biggby. In his free time, he writes, paints, and practices music. After two years of service as Secretary, then Treasurer of the Lutheran Student Organization, Tim is excited to now serve the congregation as Secretary, and to assist in its goals and ministry.

Jeremy Lange

Jeremy Lange is from Okemos, MI and a graduate of Michigan Tech University where he received a bachelors in accounting in 2009.  He has been a member of MLC since 1988 and has served as the Treasurer for the last 2 years.  He is currently enrolled in the MBA program at Walsh College which he hopes to finish this December, after which he plans on sitting for the CPA exam.  When not working toward his CPA certification, he enjoys watching sports, playing golf, and spending time with friends and family all across Michigan.

Dan and Connie Hanrahan

Treasurers

Connie and Dan Hanrahan have been members of Martin Luther Chapel since 1988.  They are both graduates of Michigan State University.  Following several years as Financial Secretaries at the chapel they have been in the Assistant Treasurer role for the past three years.  They have two grown daughters, Maureen and Meghan.  Connie has recently renewed her passion for sewing and has also taken up yoga.  Dan is a golfer “wanna be.”

Jeff and Jenny Anderson

Financial Secretaries

Jeff and Jenny Anderson met while attending MSU and have been married for 35 years.  They have 3 grown children and 5 grandchildren.  Jeff is an Administrator for the Michigan Department of Corrections and Jenny is Mentor for LifeTech Academy.  They have been members of MLC for over 10 years. They have served as Financial Secretaries for over 9 years and Jenny has been trained as a Stephen Minister. They enjoy spending time with their family and their 2 Golden Retrievers.  They also enjoy playing euchre and trivia.

Todd and Lisa Parker

Financial Secretaries

Todd and Lisa Parker are both graduates of Michigan State University. Lisa in Accounting and Todd in Forestry. Lisa had lived in East Lansing her whole life and now works for Lyman Briggs College at Michigan State University as their Fiscal Officer. Todd comes from Stow, Ohio and moved to East Lansing to attend MSU. He works for Public Sector Consultants as a Program Senior Consultant. They have a daughter, Charlotte. She will be attending Pinecrest Elementary school in the Fall. They are avid Michigan State fans and love a good jigsaw puzzle.

Reed Kalso

Financial Secretary

Reed Kalso is a member of Martin Luther Chapel from Allen Park, MI. He began serving as a Financial Secretary this year. He graduated from Michigan State in 2009 with a degree in professional writing and works as a writer and editor. He participated in Spring Break Servant Events and led retreats with Martin Luther Chapel as a student, and became a Stephen Minister this year. Reed enjoys writing, reading, hiking, and a variety of sports and games.

Lauren Martin

Lauren is a junior at Michigan State studying nursing. She would like to work in a NICU or a Pediatrics department when she graduates. She is from Eaton Rapids, and is looking forward to continuing to serve as a Peer Minister at Martin Luther Chapel! In her free time, you'll find her hanging out on campus with friends, going to the gym, or playing with her kitten!

Avery Riggs

Avery is a junior at Michigan State studying Communications. She is from Grand Ledge, MI and graduated Grand Ledge High School in 2016. Avery has been involved with music her entire life. Although flute is her main instrument, she enjoys playing acoustic guitar during the Wednesday ON FIRE services.

 

Avery was invited to Martin Luther Chapel by her grandparents, Bill and Mary Joyce, both members for over 30 years. Spending quality time with her family and friends is very important to her. In her spare time, she enjoys camping, traveling, baking, cooking, and making to-do lists. Avery is eager to continue her walk with Christ in her role on the Wednesday ON FIRE leadership team!

I am Alex Smithley. I grew up in Enid, Oklahoma, and my family now lives in the Washington, D. C. area since my dad is in the Air Force. I am going to be a sophomore this upcoming semester at the Mighty Michigan State University, and I am studying Pre-Law/Political Sciences, and I really enjoy it here. I go to church every week and hang out at Bible Study every Wednesday evening as well, so feel free to visit MLC and say hey. I am looking forward to being more involved and helping others as a member of the leadership team. In my free time, I like to exercise, play basketball and swimming, play tons of video games like fortnite, play the piano, hang out with pals, and make YouTube videos, too.

Hi, my name is Jonathan Ebmeyer, a junior studying Supply Chain Management at MSU. Here at the chapel you can find me regularly attending services and serving on the Campus Ministry Leadership team. While on this team, I am looking forward to collaborating with my team members and finding new ways to increase outreach across the Michigan State University campus and beyond to share the gospel of Christ. In my free time, I enjoy playing guitar, listening to music, going out with friends, and playing with my dog. God's blessings!

Katherine is majoring in Professional Writing and minoring in Film Studies. She wants to be an editor for fiction novels, but she isn't sure yet what kind of editor she wants to be. In her free time, she enjoys reading and watching movies (hence the areas of study). As a student leader this year, she hopes to better connect with fellow students at Martin Luther Chapel and meet new students on campus and help them find a home in MLC.

Meghan Woell is from the Chicago area and is a junior studying music education and clarinet performance at Michigan State. She is not only on the Wednesday ON FIRE team, but is the chapel manager assistant and on the student-led Bible study team. She is excited to take on the role of coordinator. Meghan enjoys reading and drinking coffee in her free time.

Lydia is a member of the Wednesday ON FIRE Leadership team. She is a sophomore in the Residential College in the Arts and Humanities at MSU. She is majoring in arts and humanities with a minor in French and a minor in dance. She is also a member of the Honors College. Lydia likes to dance in her free time and is a member of the MSU Orchesis Dance Company. Lydia would like to thank her friends and her family for all their love and support.
